Investments despite challenging 2023 summer season

loading="lazy"

Many may be looking forward to the upcoming spring and summer of 2024. Here we first take a look back at the summer of 2023.

You may recall that the summer of 2023 brought unpredictable weather, with windy and unstable conditions from week 27 well into August. Our absolute peak season, when we are usually fully booked. Unfortunately, the weather conditions contributed to slightly fewer people taking the boat trip out to "our" beautiful island in the Kattegat. The visitor numbers and results are therefore affected by the weather and for the first time in several years, Anholt Harbour has seen a decrease in the number of yachtsmen compared to previous years.

Significant investments on the way

Despite the declining revenue for 2023, Anholt Harbour has decided to invest significantly to improve the facilities for the upcoming season. We have planned a number of improvements and upgrades to ensure an even better experience for our guests:

Maintaining buoys and installing more

We will ensure our buoys are in top condition and increase the number to meet the need for safe and easy mooring.

New pipeline on the bridges

We are particularly pleased with the upgrade with a new pipeline, as it significantly increases safety. This includes replacing pipelines on the bridges and upgrading with outlets for emergency response hoses, so we are better equipped to handle any emergency situations in the event of a fire.

Upgrade of rescue ladders

Safety and security are at the forefront of our minds. That's why this investment in new rescue ladders is another safety measure. Should a guest fall into the water, there is now easier access to get back to safety on the bridge. The rescue ladders are covered with fluorescent tape and paint, making them visible both day and night.

Installing an eco station

With the new upcoming eco station, sailors will be able to empty their holding tank and contribute to environmentally friendly practices.

Upgrading the bathing area and toilet facilities

In the bathing area and at the washbasins, we are refreshing with new tiles, in both the women's and men's rooms of course. This improves hygiene and comfort for our guests and makes cleaning easier for our staff.

New 1st floor terrace at Sailor House

Our amazing view from Sailor House will not change. But by summer 2024, our guests will be able to enjoy the view from a brand new terrace. We're building a new first-floor terrace in beautiful wooden materials to match the surroundings. Guests can take a seat on the café furniture and benches and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere with a view of the marina and the Kattegat. We are very excited to showcase and inaugurate it.

All these investments are part of our commitment and desire to create a better and more pleasant experience for all our guests. We look forward to welcoming you all to an upgraded Anholt Harbor in the coming season.

Practical info

Sailor House will be closed in weeks 10, 11 and 12 in 2024 for renovation work. The bathing and changing facilities cannot be used during this time. The ticket and card machine will also be out of service during the same period. However, access to the toilets will be available.
