Great support for royal visit

loading="lazy"

A few hundred people turned up at the harbour yesterday to welcome HM The Queen to Anholt. The atmosphere was festive and paper flags were waved in the wind by adults and children.

The plan was for The Queen to arrive by chalup, but the weather and winds would have it otherwise. Instead, Queen Margrethe had to be flown to Anholt by helicopter, and we unfortunately had to miss the beautiful view from the island onto the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.

In addition to the reception and a large coffee table at the harbour, The Queen visited the coastal defence and the radar tower. There was also a drive in the desert, where Queen Margrethe had the opportunity to take a closer look at the desert's unique nature.

"It was a really good day. Anholt showed its best side, even if we missed the sun - it usually shines over here. The Queen seemed to have a good time. She certainly showed a genuine interest in seeing the island and meeting the locals. We're glad of that," says Klaus Jensen, the harbour master.
