Construction work and preparation for better space

Increasing demand and Anholt's popularity among sailors results in peak periods. Like many other marinas, Klaus Jensen, the harbour master at Anholt, is seeing good activity in the harbour. This includes the arrival of several, larger boats. The port is now trying to meet this demand by investing in a new jetty.

"You should have a good experience when you call at Anholt Harbour - regardless of the high season and the size of the boat", emphasises Klaus Jensen.

"With this new development, we want to cater for both the smaller yachts that want to enjoy the view and see the harbour from the boat and the larger boats that need more space. Our intention is that this new bridge can become a reservation bridge for the big boats."

Capacity is not increased - but the experience of space is optimised

Klaus Jensen emphasises that it is not a question of increased capacity, but rather of repositioning in order to give sailors the best possible experience. The port is aware that there must be room for the pleasant sailing environment, with respect and consideration for the fact that the port must accommodate all types of boats. In the long term, the Port of Anholt has further plans to build a cross pier that will provide optimal shelter conditions in the port's outer basin, where the bridge will be built.

In the photos, the contractors are making the initial preparations, including driving down the piles for the bridge.

Preparing for the 2023 season

Although work has already begun and some may already be looking forward to the opportunity, completing the whole project is a long process. This means that the new floating bridge is expected to be ready for the 2023 season. In 2022, the harbour master and the team at Anholt will help the yachtsmen and boats get into place as best they can, as they have done so far.

"We will do our utmost to ensure that all our guests have a good experience," concludes Klaus Jensen.

Upgrades in recent years have been well received

In recent years, the Port of Anholt has made many investments and upgrades so that port users and guests have modern facilities to make use of. The upgrading of the entire grill area and the upgrade of the Sailor House have been extremely well received.

Life at sea has become popular

An increasing interest in discovering Denmark and its many beautiful islands is also felt on Anholt. The natural Kattegat island offers many special and unique experiences. Nature and the sea attract many. There is fresh air, desert, child-friendly beaches and an advantage for the climate compared to other holiday options. When you visit Anholt, Denmark's most isolated island, you will typically stay for a few days and enjoy the island, the nature and the lovely atmosphere to be found around the harbour and along the bridges. The Port of Anholt will continue its efforts to provide a framework for a fantastic sailing holiday.
